The Opportunity

Skyline Recruitment is currently representing several mining and exploration companies on confidential VP Exploration and senior exploration leadership appointments across Canada and the United States.

These opportunities span companies advancing projects through exploration, resource growth and development, and offer experienced geological leaders the chance to take meaningful ownership of exploration strategy, technical direction, team development and project advancement.

The mandates vary in structure and location, including opportunities based in Western Canada and the western United States, as well as positions where flexible travel arrangements may be considered for the right individual.

We are particularly interested in speaking with established exploration executives and senior technical leaders who may be open to discussing their next step confidentially.

The Roles

Depending on the individual mandate, responsibilities may include:

• Developing and executing company-wide exploration and geological strategy.
• Leading exploration programs from target generation through resource definition and expansion.
• Planning and overseeing significant diamond drilling programs.
• Directing geological interpretation, modelling and resource-growth initiatives.
• Managing exploration budgets, contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Recruiting, developing and mentoring geological teams.
• Evaluating new projects, properties and acquisition opportunities.
• Providing technical input into corporate strategy and project development decisions.
• Working closely with CEOs, executive teams, boards and external technical advisors.
• Supporting technical reporting, investor communications and capital-markets activities where appropriate.
• Advancing projects through increasingly mature stages of exploration and development.

Candidate Profile

We would like to hear from exploration professionals with a strong combination of technical credibility, leadership capability and commercial awareness.

Typical backgrounds may include:

• Approximately 15–30+ years of mineral exploration and geological experience.
• Previous experience as a VP Exploration, Exploration Director, Exploration Manager, Chief Geologist or comparable senior leader.
• Demonstrated success designing and delivering significant exploration and drilling programs.
• Experience generating discoveries, expanding mineral resources or advancing projects toward development.
• Strong geological interpretation and exploration targeting capabilities.
• Experience managing exploration budgets and multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Ability to operate effectively at both the technical and executive level.
• Experience working with publicly listed mining or exploration companies is advantageous.
• Professional geological registration such as P.Geo. or an equivalent designation is preferred where applicable.

Geological Experience

The current mandates cover a range of mineral systems and geological environments.

Relevant experience may include:

• Gold exploration and resource development.
• Orogenic gold systems.
• Epithermal systems.
• Porphyry and copper-gold systems.
• Sediment-hosted gold systems.
• Major established mining districts across North America.

Candidates do not need experience across every deposit type. Geological fit will be assessed against the individual opportunities.

Location & Travel

The current opportunities include a mixture of:

• Western Canadian-based leadership positions.
• United States-based exploration leadership positions.
• Roles requiring regular project and site travel.
• Potentially flexible location arrangements for particularly well-aligned senior candidates.
