Job Title: Senior Transportation Planner
Location: Ontario (Toronto, Ottawa, Waterloo, London – Hybrid/Flexible Options Available)
Salary - ($100K–$130K+, depending on experience)
Overview: Skyline Recruitment is currently recruiting for multiple firms seeking a
Senior Transportation Planner to lead and deliver planning and mobility studies across Ontario. These roles are ideal for professionals with a strong background in active transportation, multimodal networks, policy development, and public sector consulting.
This is a high-impact position where you’ll guide the technical execution of transportation planning studies while mentoring junior planners and collaborating with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead and manage transportation planning studies, including master plans, corridor studies, TMPs, EA processes, and policy reviews
- Develop and implement strategic plans for multimodal transportation systems (active transportation, transit, road networks)
- Oversee and contribute to public and stakeholder engagement activities, including presentations and workshops
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, proposals, memos, and briefing notes for municipal and regional clients
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including civil engineers, urban planners, and traffic modelers
- Guide project delivery, monitor timelines and budgets, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies
- Mentor and review the work of intermediate and junior staff
- Support business development through proposal preparation and client relationship management
Qualifications: - Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field
- 8–15+ years of progressive experience in transportation planning
- Full membership with OPPI and/or RPP designation (or eligibility preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of relevant provincial and municipal planning frameworks and EA processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary projects and deliver client-facing presentations
- Proficiency in GIS, MS Office, and familiarity with transportation modeling tools (e.g., EMME, VISUM, Synchro) considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
