We are hiring a
Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in
material handling systems to join a growing engineering consultancy in
Vancouver. The ideal candidate will bring
hands-on design and project leadership experience across
industrial, mining, or ports and marine environments.
This role offers the opportunity to work on
large-scale infrastructure and bulk material movement projects, leading concept through to detailed design and construction support.
Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage mechanical design packages for conveyors, chutes, silos, hoppers, shiploaders, stackers/reclaimers, and other bulk material handling systems
- Oversee mechanical layout design, equipment selection, and integration with structural and electrical systems
- Conduct technical reviews, feasibility studies, risk assessments, and lifecycle cost analyses
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams including structural, electrical, civil, and project management
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff
- Prepare and review specifications, technical reports, and tender documentation
- Participate in client meetings, site inspections, and commissioning support
Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- P.Eng. designation in BC (or ability to register)
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on bulk material handling in mining, ports, or heavy industrial settings
- Proficient with mechanical design tools and modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- Strong understanding of industry standards (CEMA, ASME, CSA)
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Experience in an EPCM or consulting engineering environment is a strong asset
