Environmental Project Manager – HazMat / Air Quality (Intermediate–Senior)

The Opportunity
Skyline Recruitment is partnering with several environmental and engineering consulting firms seeking Environmental Project Managers with expertise in Hazardous Materials and Air Quality to support growing project pipelines across the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario.
These roles span strong intermediate to senior levels and offer the opportunity to manage diverse projects across the commercial, institutional, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery
- Manage HazMat and/or Air Quality projects from proposal through completion.
- Lead delivery of:
- Designated Substances Surveys (DSS)
- Hazardous Materials Assessments
- Asbestos, Lead, Mould, and Silica programs
- Indoor and ambient air quality investigations
- Emissions monitoring and compliance projects
- Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and subcontractors.
Technical Oversight
- Review technical reports and ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
- Provide guidance on:
- Abatement and remediation strategies
- Exposure assessments and risk mitigation
- Regulatory compliance and reporting
- Ensure adherence to Ontario regulations and industry standards.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary client contact for assigned projects.
- Liaise with:
- Property owners and developers
- Contractors and abatement teams
- Municipal and regulatory agencies
- Support proposal preparation and business development activities.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor junior and intermediate staff.
- Provide technical review and QA/QC.
- Contribute to growth of the HazMat and/or Air Quality practice.
Qualifications
Required
- Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Hygiene, Engineering, or related discipline.

5–12+ years of consulting experience in HazMat and/or Air Quality.
- Strong experience managing projects and client relationships.
- Knowledge of Ontario regulations and industry standards.
Preferred / Assets
- Certifications such as:
- CIH, ROH, CRSP, or CHSC
- Asbestos or Hazardous Materials certifications
- Experience with proposal writing and business development.
- Leadership or mentoring experience.
