On behalf of a leading mining client, Skyline Recruitment is supporting the hire of a Superintendent, Resource Geology for a major gold project in the United States. This is a key leadership opportunity within a high-performing technical team on one of the most exciting mining operations in North America.
The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing resource geology teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, fit-for-purpose resource models.
You will play a critical role in driving resource estimation strategy, technical standards, and reporting, while working closely with operations, mine planning, and senior leadership to support business-critical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage resource geology teams, including mentoring and development of geologists
- Oversee the delivery of resource models and estimation outputs to agreed timelines and standards
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices and internal resource estimation guidelines
- Own and drive resource estimation workflows, modelling strategies, and technical standards
- Support and oversee resource and reserve reporting in line with industry codes (NI 43-101 / SK-1300)
- Collaborate with mine planning, operations, and technical services teams to ensure alignment across the value chain
- Identify and escalate risks, opportunities, and material changes within resource models
- Lead regular technical reviews and ensure quality control across modelling and estimation processes
- Act as a key technical interface with senior leadership and stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in resource geology and estimation within mining environments
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership or managerial role within resource geology
- Strong expertise in:
- Resource estimation and block modelling
- 3D geological modelling and domaining
- Geostatistics and estimation methodologies
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver technical outputs to deadlines
- Experience with industry-standard software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, AcQuire, or similar)
- Strong understanding of resource/reserve reporting standards (NI 43-101 / SK-1300)
Preferred:
- Advanced degree (MSc or similar) in Geology, Geostatistics, or related field
- Ability to act as a Qualified Person (QP) or equivalent
- Experience with gold systems (Carlin-style a plus)
