Construction Superintendent – Site C Dam / Roadworks
Location: Fort St. John, British Columbia (Camp work: 14 days on, 7 days off – swing shift days/nights)
Duration: Long-term project
Salary: $150,000–$180,000 + 32.5% uplift + $3,000 LOA (ongoing)
(Project vehicle & gas card provided | Flights covered from home base to site)
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on the Site C Dam project with a focus on road construction and associated civil works. This role is ideal for candidates with an engineering background who thrive in remote, camp-based environments and have hands-on experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will oversee site operations, manage project schedules and costs, and mentor junior superintendents while ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all on-site construction activities, including roadworks and related civil infrastructure.
- Oversee daily operations across a 14/7 rotation, including both day and night shifts (12-hour days).
- Develop, maintain, and optimize project schedules to meet key milestones.
- Monitor and control project costs, including tracking and managing cost codes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Mentor and support junior superintendents and field staff, fostering a strong team environment.
- Identify and resolve site challenges efficiently, including workforce and operational issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Engineering background (Civil or related discipline preferred).
- 10–15 years total experience in construction, with 5+ years as a Superintendent on large-scale civil or road construction projects.
- Road construction experience essential, preferably on greenfield or remote works.
- Experience on major infrastructure projects (hydro, dam, or Site C-like projects) is a strong asset.
- Previous experience working in remote or camp-based roles.
- Strong ability to manage schedules, costs, and field teams effectively.
