Superintendent – Civil Construction
Location: British Columbia (Camp-based opportunities available – 14 days on / 7 days off)
Salary: $110,000–$150,000+ (Negotiable based on experience)
Position Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Superintendent to join a well-established civil contractor specializing in earthworks, concrete, site development, and heavy civil construction projects throughout British Columbia.
This organization self-performs its concrete and earthworks scopes and maintains a strong project pipeline, consistently managing multiple active projects while continuing to secure new work. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily field operations, leading site teams, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage daily site operations on civil construction projects from mobilization through completion.
- Coordinate and supervise crews, subcontractors, equipment, and suppliers to ensure efficient project execution.
- Oversee earthworks, concrete, site development, and heavy civil construction activities.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and schedules.
- Develop and implement short-term and long-term construction plans in collaboration with Project Managers.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve field issues.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and contractual requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation to ensure field teams are aligned with project objectives.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, and material requirements to maintain productivity and project timelines.
- Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, and safety discussions.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, production tracking, and progress updates.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Mentor and support foremen, operators, and field personnel to promote team development and project success.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 2–5+ years of experience as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, or Senior Foreman within civil construction.
- Proven experience supervising earthworks, concrete, site development, or heavy civil construction projects.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, sequencing, scheduling, and field operations.
- Experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety programs and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Experience with project documentation, reporting, and field coordination.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software is considered an asset.
- Camp or remote project experience is considered an asset.
- Degree, diploma, trade certification, or equivalent experience in Civil Construction, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
